After the fellowship, Pres. Girish called the meeting to order and requested Rtn. Manjiri Badwe (MOC) to take over the proceedings. She invited the guests, Mrs. Sulajja Firodia Motwani, DGN Rtn. Santosh Marathe, and Rtn. Dr. Anant Sardeshmukh, to the dais. Pres. Girish briefed all about the Appasaheb Savley Memorial Oration Series, and then Rtn. Manjiri introduced Mrs. Motwani. Sulajja is the founder and CEO of Kinetic Green Energy and Power Solutions Limited, a pioneer in the electric vehicle sector in India. She is also the Vice Chairperson of Kinetic Engineering and is responsible for the Kinetic Group’s overall business development activity. Under her leadership, Kinetic Green has risen to be the leading manufacturer of electric three-wheelers and two-wheelers in the country. Sulajja has received numerous awards for her achievements. A State Topper and Merit Rank holder throughout her academic career, Sulajja holds an MBA from the prestigious Carnegie (Ca-Nee-Gee) Mellon University, Pennsylvania, USA. After her MBA, Sulajja worked with BARRA International in Berkeley, California, before returning to India. She is a fitness enthusiast, has been a national-level badminton player and marathon runner, and passionately pursues adventure sports including skiing, scuba diving, rollerblading, mountain biking, and skydiving. Then Dr. Anant Sardeshmukh began with an interaction with Mrs. Sulajja Firodia Motwani. Sulajja spoke about how the e-vehicle market is slowly gearing up and demand will increase in the coming years. The growth will be more prominent in the 2-wheeler and 3-wheeler, as they have a larger market. The government is also coming up with various schemes to boost the use of e-vehicles. During the Q&A session, she explained how the batteries in the vehicles are used even after their life in the vehicle is over. Sulajja told about the launch of old Luna in a new avatar of E-Luna and how the pricing would be cheap and hence in demand. The company aims to be a global leader in light electric mobility, with a vision to bring “green mobility to the masses." With an emphasis on “Make in India," Kinetic formed a joint venture with Tonino Lamborghini, SpA, to bring global design for electric and solar golf carts and tourism vehicles that will be manufactured in India and marketed globally. The interaction was very informative. After the interaction, DGN Santosh Marathe felicitated Mrs. Sulajja Firodia Motwani and Dr.Sardeshmukh. After that, President Nominee Rtn. Devdatta introduced DGN Rtn. Santosh Marathe, who then briefed all about how even Rotary gives importance to vocational awards and also about global grants. He was then felicitated by Pres. Milind Kulkarni of RCP Katraj. PE Rtn.Parag gave a vote of thanks and Pres. Girish adjourned the meeting. |
