International Youth Exchange
Are you a Rotarian or a friend or relative of Rotarian? Is there a child in the age group of 15 to 25 in the family? Does this child want to go to abroad?
Here is an opportunity to be a part of IYE program. IYE Program is an ideal platform for the youth for their personal growth and to understand different cultures, interact with others and develop life-long bondage through which International understanding and peace can be achieved. Be a part of those 8,500 students & 80 countries who participate every year.
IYE Program At A Glance
Long Term Exchange Duration: One Year Age: 15 to 19 Years Activity: Junior College Stay: With three Families (By Rotation)
Short Term Exchange Duration: 4 to 6 Weeks; Can be during vacation Age: 15 to 19 Years Activity: Short Course (Optional) Stay: With one Family
New Generation Exchange Duration: 4 to 6 Weeks Age: 19 to 25 Years Activity: Cultural Exchange; Study Tour Stay: With one Family
This is the only RI Program wherein beneficiaries are Rotarian and their relatives. As the Rotary International Youth Exchange program is highly selective, the club leader should start the process early - up to an year in advance, of when student / children wish to join this program. If one wishes to travel abroad while in 11th standard, the application must be made in September of the year of 10th standard It is necessary to apply this much early due to the extensive selection and orientation process to be followed by sponsoring Rotary club. The selection process and orientation sessions will helps student to prepare for a new life in a new country. Each visiting student act as an ambassadors of the sponsoring Rotary club and of the country. The student is expected to follow the International Youth Exchange program rules, be open to new experiences, strive to learn the language and culture of the host country.
Get started … Some Responsibilities of Sponsoring Rotary Club include - Appoint your IPP or Past President for this avenue of service as IYE Counselor. To maintain contact with the host family and the student throughout the exchange period Appoint IYE Chair person of the Club To locate young talent from within the club or from friends and relatives. Introduce IYE Program in your Interact or Rotaract Club during their regular meetings. If needed, call somebody from District IYE TEAM
- To ensure that the parents agree to assume responsibility of hosting a student
- To follow the guidelines of District and Rotary International
- Have interactive session in your regular club meeting for IYE; the district IYE team is at your disposal 24 x 7.
