January 1971 Commissioned INS Nirghat at Dimond Harbour Calcutta . Sailed in INS Nirghat from Calcutta to Bombay . 1970 December duely prepaired for Action Sailed to Okha . “Operation Trident” 4th Dec 1971. 4th Dec 1971 - 4.00 AM Sailed for Secret Mission . 6.00 AM Okha was Bombarded by Pakisthani Airforce.No damage . 16.00 PM INS Nipat , INS Veer ,INS Katchal , INS Kiltan joind with us in Arabian Sea . Div . Cdr B B Yadav Declaired we are proceeding to attack Karachi & Pakisthani Naval Ships . 23.35 pm Received coded Secret signal . “ ACT INDEPENDENTLY WHEN READY PROCEED & ATTACK” Our target was PNS Khaibar , Pakistani War Ship Distroyer. 1st Missile Fired in a centre of Khaibar. IInd Missile Fired , the Ship was splited in to 2 pices & went down bottom of the Sea with 275 Crews on board. PNS Shahajahan was fully damaged & set on fire. PNS Hatfiz was hit with Missile and sunk. Venus Challenger , American Merchant Ship loaded with Arms & Ammuniations supplied by America for Pakistan was hit with Missiles was set on fire . There after our Ships carried out Attack on Pakistani Naval Establishments and Refineries which set on fire which was burnning weeks together . After Attack all ships return to Bombay Safely . We were prepared to carryout II nd Attack . While in Bombay Harbour unidentified enemy underwater Divers were detected when I was on Petroling Security duty. The target was Hit by Lanchester & Guns and Disroyed .
