What is World Values Day? World Values Day is a global initiative aimed at raising awareness and promoting the practice of values worldwide. It recognizes that values are the essence of what matters most to us as individuals and as a society, guiding our actions and shaping the world around us. About Val-Ed Initiatives Val-Ed Initiatives is a leading organization dedicated to promoting values-based education and fostering a culture of values-driven action in schools and communities worldwide along with a focus on Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and Wellbeing. Our mission is to empower individuals with the knowledge and life skills to make ethical and values-based decisions, ultimately contributing to a more harmonious and united world. Val-Ed Initiatives has been collaborating with World Values Day, UK for the past several years. The theme for this year’s World Values Day 2023, is “Values bring us together” and it was truly practiced by all the families who came together on a Sunday morning to celebrate their passion for values. The Great Values Olympics, a unique gathering of schools and families from across Bengaluru, proved to be a resounding success, emphasizing the significance of values within families and communities. The event was an exhilarating day filled with exciting competitions and activities, cultural dance performances, an NGO working for the betterment of the environment, food stalls, and more. It successfully demonstrated that values are not just words but the compass that guides our actions and unites us in our shared principles. The event also perfectly aligned with the theme of this year's G20 summit in India, "Vasudeva Kutumbakam," highlighting the global importance of values and values-based action. It exemplified the power of coming together as a community to celebrate the values that bind us all as one earth, one family and one future. The overwhelming response to "The Great Values Olympics" only reiterates and reinforces that Val-Ed’s mission of promoting values-based education and fostering a culture of empathy, compassion, and respect in schools and communities worldwide, is the best way forward.
