| Minutes of Meeting | On Thursday, 7th April from 7 to 8.30 pm, Ashok Deshmane spoke about his passion Snehwan: A Ray Of Hope, a social cause of sheltering children of farmers who have committed suicide in Maharashtra. At the age of 26, Ashok Deshmane left a high-paying IT job to serve the social cause of sheltering children of underprivileged farmers and children of farmers who had committed suicide. He started a social project near Alandi in Pune, where children have access to healthy food and quality education. What began with 18 children in 2015 is now a home for 180! Ashok himself belonged to a poor farmer family and his education was funded by many good Samaritans. This in turn inspired him to help others, so much so that what he has received has been multiplied manifolds through Snehwan. When you give you get More! Today, Ashok (31) and his wife Archana (24) are dedicated to the cause and follow the path highlighted by Swami Vivekanand through the “Snehwan” initiative, a home where everyone stays together and eats together under one roof. Ashok’s parents have also joined the couple on this journey. Dr. Ravindra and Dr. Smita Kulkarni met Ashok when Archana suffered a miscarriage. They saw Ashok’s passion and work and donated 2 acres of land! Good fortune smiled even in these troubled times. Ashok and the children have now moved to this campus, and he now wants to construct a separate girls hotel, library and other facilities on this campus Ashok’s passion and engaging demeanour was evident as the session was quite interactive as members asked several questions. Many members evinced interest in visiting Snehwan to mentor the children and to explore how RCPD can collaborate with Snehwan |
