| Minutes of Meeting | Rotary club of Pune Sports city organised an evening with - Dr. Vishwas Sapatnekar on 8th August 2023 at Balkalyan School Aundh Pune. Dr. Sapatnekar is a well decorated medical and social warrior. He came to fame during 1992 wherein he helped the Indian government to recover greater than 2 Ton of RDX from Mumbai Sea. Dr. Sapatnekar did his schooling at Shri Shivaji Preparatory Military school and Master of Surgery from Seth GS Medical college – KEM College Mumbai. He has worked in UK for several years and has a hospital there till today. Dr Sapatnekar has learned scuba diving, parachuting, Jumping, paragliding, and ammunition skills during his several years with different organisations. It was great to learn that Dr. Sapatnekar has been a dedicated committed social worker and has been working for several years towards: - - Supporting Warkaris every year with medical help on charity basis. - Supporting inter border patients wherein no specific country has a command and there is a dire need of medical support. - Isolated hospitals in war zone like Sudan wherein he was posted through MSF – an international organisation which provides medical services through renowned international doctors on charity basis – It’s called Doctors without borders. - Medical facilities for Tribal people in remote areas - Addressing needs for Polio vaccinations in Thane and Mumbai area. - Installation and Pran Pratishtha of sant Dnyeshwar idol in 2006 at London - since than everyday people gather for Geeta recital and prayers. - Started a scuba diving club at Thane and has supported many social cause at sea in Mumbai including recovery of many important articles and drowned valuables. During 1992-93 there were major bomb attacks in Mumbai and that was a time when services and skills of scuba diving of Dr. Sapatnekar came handy for the Nation. It was identified that there are large sacks of RDX at Mumbai Sea which has the capacity to blow 7-8 big cities in India. It was important to take it out of the sea however there was a scare that anyone who goes nearby will die. Dr. Sapatnekar took the courage and risk to bring out those sacks along with his wife and a student. During next 24-36 hours more than 80 sacks of RDX was recovered in extremely difficult, muddy, life threatening and dangerous conditions only due to courage and commitment of Dr Sapatnekar demonstrating his selfless Nation first Philosophy! Rotary club of Sports city was privileged to get blessings, inspiration, and motivation by Dr. Sapatnekar and awarded him with Rotary Services Excellence Recognition Award for his exceptional medical and social services including commitment to nations safety. |

| Minutes of Meeting | Minutes of Meeting: Venue: Krishna Hotel at 7 pm Fellowship by: Rtn Sameer Mane Attendees: Rotarians S Poonawala, Rashida, Nisrin, Hemant, Malati, M Badshah, Suhail, S Nalwala, Gulu Jagat, Papaji Mohan, Kunjan and Sameer. 12 attendees. Meeting started with the initial formalities taken as done. Items of agenda discussed as follows: 1. Nisrin was assigned as Project Incharge for the Stationery project proposed by her. The total funding as decided earlier was reconfirmed as 16K. I e. 10K by Club + 5K by Badshah + 1K by Kunjan. Nisrin was advised to exercise her discretion in identifying the types and quantities of items required and this is acceptable to all. M Badshah informed that it will not be possible to make sets, and the entire lot had to be handed over. It was decided that once the lot is ready some members will go to the institution and personally hand over the goods. Nisrin to advise when this will be ready. 2. S Nalwala requested whether giving a wheelchair to a very old lady to be moved around by her daughter could be considered. It was clarified that RCPH will not go for donation/ support to individuals. However, Papaji volunteered to support with a second-hand unit in his personal capacity. 3. S Poonawala informed that letter has been received from AG to hold a DG visit on the 18th of Sept. Since our Club President who is supposed to be the host for the DG visit is unavailable till Oct, it was decided to inform AG that DG visit for RCPH will be a breakfast meeting to be held in late Oct. Date to be confirmed by Nitin P. 4. Kunjan requested whether we could provide fund for a school manager by Kokan Seva. It was confirmed that RCPH cannot provide funds to this school. 5. Grain seeds distribution project carried out by Shiva Valley school was discussed and appreciated. Same appreciation could be conveyed to Shiva Valley school during the visit. 6. Shiva Valley visit was preponed to Friday 11 Aug. However, since it was not convenient to most members, it was restored to its original date of Saturday 12 Aug. Tean to leave by their own cars at 9.30 AM. 7. Girme school sanitary pad disposal is an issue. RCPH to investigate further on possible machine equipment as remedy for the same. The opinion of ladies as well as others was that it is a tricky issue as these machines do not seem to be working. Further investigation required to be done. 8. Visit to schools proposed by Suhail is on, and the dates for the same to be proposed by him. 9. Reminder was given by Papaji to attend the Shiva Valley visit in large numbers and also to attend the Rotaract Club Installation on Sunday afternoon in large number. Meeting concluded with a vote of thanks to Sameer for the fellowship and also wishing him a very Happy Birthday. |
