Minutes of Meeting MERIT CUM MEANS SCHOLARSHIP FOR GIRL STUDENTS Rotary Club of Pune Sports City initiated celebration of International Women’s Day by starting a scholarship scheme for meritorious girl students in RY 22-23. The scholarship of Rs 10,000 each was given to 7 bright girl students from VII standard. The girls belonged to Padam Shri Dada Vasant Rao Patil School in Someshwar wadi, Pune. The names were recommended by the school and these girls required financial support to continue studies. This year we modified the scheme and decided to support girls studying in graduation courses. The idea is to support bright girls to study beyond graduation/complete graduation course. A team of 4 lady Rotarians and Anns was formed to execute this scheme. The team met the Principal of Modern College Chaturshringhi, Pune and explained the details. The College has 1200 girls out of total 2400 students. College shared with us a list of 50 meritorious girl students needing financial support. Our team met the students and interviewed them. 14 girls pursuing studies in Science, Commerce, and Arts were selected based on merit, economic background, single parent, and physical disabilities if any. The 14 selected girls include one who is speech and hearing impaired but is pursuing her Masters in Commerce. A generous Donor provided us an amount of Rs 2,00,000 which was distributed amongst these girls. A function was organized in our club on 12th March. It was attended by the Vice Principal of Modern College, two faculty members, scholarship awardees, their parents/ family and club members. Certificates were awarded and the entire amount of Rs 2 Lakhs was given to college Principal for adjustment against the fees of these girls. Some of the awardees of the scholarship spoke during the function. The girls expressed their ambition to join the Indian Administrative Services, Defense, IT industry, Management, Banking and several other fields requiring higher education. Most of the girls expressed their desire to give back to society once they realized their dreams. Rotary Club of Pune Sports City intends to celebrate Women’s Day in the same fashion in coming years too.

He said that forthcoming events included RCPC Rocks – II on March 16, 2024, presentation of Vocational Awards, and the multi-district Public Image seminar on March 17, 2024. 6. President Ajay congratulated Rtn. PP Ravi Kapoor for being recognized for his “exemplary service to The Rotary Foundation”. 7. Regarding the freezing of the club’s FCRA account, Rtn. Ravi said that some issues had been raised regarding alleged irregularities in handling the account — such as not applying for renewal in time, improper use of funds — and a reply was being put together to clarify and resolve the matter with the Ministry of Home Affairs in New Delhi. 8. Rtn. Arun reported that Rtn. Baakir Baker’s donation of Rs.10 lakhs for cataract eye surgeries had been received and had to be utilized by March 31, 2024. Rtn. Arun added that he had sent reminders by email to members who had made commitments at the Fund-Raising but had not yet paid the donation amount. 9. Regarding the status of Global Grants projects, Rtn. Ravi said that reports on six GG projects had been submitted, of which four are showing as closed and two are waiting for review. The Green PCs project has been submitted for a GG; queries raised regarding the cataract eye surgeries project have been answered; GG application for cardiac surgeries was updated — increased from Rs 85 lakhs to Rs 95 lakhs for 50 surgeries — and has been submitted. Rtn. Ravi added that for the second time RCPC would be handling the largest CSR project of over Rs 10 crores for cataract surgeries. The shortfall of Rs 45 lakhs in the target amount could easily be met. 10. Rtn. PP Sanjiv said that on March 3, 2024, Rtn. PP Abhay Shah had hosted a dinner meeting at the Boat Club to encourage RCPC members to become Paul Harris Fellows. The aim was to make all RCPC members Paul Harris Fellows. Rtn. Madhvi said that several RCPC members had still not downloaded the Rotary 3131 app. Board members were not in favor of using digital tools such as a biometrics machine to mark attendance or for other purposes. 13. Rtn. Giri Sakhrani reported that the well project for the Happy Village now had fresh water and needed pipeline connections. Villagers were informed that RCPC would contribute funds for the proposed pipelines, but 25 percent should come from villagers themselves. Rtn. Giri said that as the Miyawaki forest project was not likely to happen, funds would be diverted to the 14 Trees project. He added that the restoration of a 300-metre dam in Rajapur village in Satara District was progressing well. 14. Rtn. Nandita Khaire said that the setting up of a Rotaract Club at Christ University in Lavasa was under way. President Ajay suggested that directors/members could donate to get the club started. 15. President Ajay informed the BOD that 10 RCPC members were going on a Family Exchange Visit to Gothenburg in Sweden in May 2024. 16. Rtn. Ashish said he will follow up with Rtn.
